When given a traveling fellowship by my college, I spent more time in Italy than any other country. Perhaps the closest I’ve come to painting a landscape is “The Lake District” (upper left), which is in the Alps just south of Switzerland. I appreciate the enormous range of Italian culture, from the hardness of “Shield for Angie” (lower left) to the emphatic gestures of "Koya" (upper right) to the melting swirls of “Homage to Black Rider” (lower right).
